ZLABELS: BROOKLYN'S OWN BY ROCAWEAR
Underneath Jay-Z’s Rocawear brand, Brooklyn’s Own is a streetwear label inspired by the streets of New York. Young and edgy, but with a fashionable maturity, the brand features a wide range of product categories but with a focused aesthetic and colourpalette. I designed Outerwear, Knitwear, Sweat and Jersey products for the Brooklyn’s Own brand, aswell as the brand’s seasonal creative direction.
The collection combined contrasting fabrics, details, and prints to create a distinctive take on streetwear. Each style told its own story. One side of the collection explored technical sportswear, featuring seam bonding, rubberized bonded zips, and performance fabrics. In contrast, another side leaned into a worn-out workwear aesthetic, incorporating rugged materials like canvas and denim, enhanced through specialized washing and dyeing techniques.
This fusion of innovation and heritage gave the range a unique aesthetic that aligned with contemporary streetwear trends.
